Following batches of Astra Zeneca and Moderna vaccines, the Democratic Republic of Congo has just received a batch of SINOVAC vaccine. This Wednesday, September 29, 2021, the Minister of Public Health, Hygiene and Prevention, Jean-Jacques Mbungani Mbanda received, at the international airport of N’Djili, four hundred thousand doses of SINOVAC vaccine and as many syringes.

It is a donation from the People’s Republic of China as part of its program to distribute 100 million doses of vaccines to developing countries by the end of this year.

This was in the presence of the Chinese Ambassador stationed in Kinshasa and the Deputy Minister of Health. The Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, was represented by his Chief of Staff, Atoki Ileka Christian.

Congolese health authorities have a good amount of vaccine to inject to people who wish to be vaccinated against Covid-19. Thanks to their bilateral cooperation, the Democratic Republic of the Congo can count on China to fight effectively against this pandemic.

To this end, the country of Xi Jinping provided Félix Tshisekedi with a first batch of 400,000 doses of the SINOVAC vaccine produced by the national pharmaceutical group Sinovac. “We are pleased that Sinovac, a donation from the Chinese government, is supporting our fight against the pandemic by increasing the batch of 400,000 doses of vaccine that will help vaccinate the Congolese in the coming days,” said the Minister of Public Health. hygiene and prevention.

China will continue to stand with DRC in the fight against Covid-19

Dr. Jean-Jacques Mbungani said it is a globally recognized vaccine, as are others currently being used by the DRC to effectively help its people protect against the Covid-19 pandemic.

We need to protect our people and the government is taking responsibility. In bilateral relations with China, we have had these vaccines that will certainly help our populations,” continued the Minister of Public Health, Hygiene and Prevention.

He reiterated his call to the population to be vaccinated, stressing that «SINOVAC is an additional support for pretending to vaccinate the majority of the Congolese population».

For his part, the Chinese ambassador posted in Kinshasa reassured that his country will remain alongside the DRC in the fight against Covid-19.

These 400,000 doses of Sinovac vaccine once again demonstrate the Chinese people’s solidarity with the Congolese people. We hope these vaccines can help the Congolese government save more lives in the country.
