Founded on mutual respect, the cooperation between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Russian Federation is on a fine note and is beneficial to both countries. Witness the exchange between the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Christophe Lutundula Apala and the Russian Ambassador in Kinshasa, Alexel Sentebov, this Tuesday, September 28, 2021.

The Russian Federation remains an important partner for the DRC in the protection of values of truth and justice, of rigorous compliance with international norms and laws. One of the advantages of not participating in the colonial council is that it has established diplomatic relations with the DRC for over 60 years.

And since Félix Tshisekedi took over as head of the country, these relations have strengthened to the point that in October 2019, the Congolese President was invited to the Russian-Africa Summit, which brought together delegations from 54 African countries. For the head of the Russian diplomatic mission in Kinshasa, this bilateral cooperation does not intend to stop so well.

I have just been received by the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs. This is our first meeting since his appointment. It’s a social call. I spoke to His Excellency about the state of our current relations and, following the Sochi Summit that gave new impetus to our relations, we can see good progress as well as some projects that will be carried out between Russia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo», said Alexel Sentebov.

He said that before being received by the head of Congolese diplomacy, he met with several other members of the government, including Prime Minister Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde, the Minister of PTNTIC or the Minister of Health.

We are working a lot with the new government because we see that it is a really dynamic government and we see the interest of our Congolese partners in developing relations with my country,” concluded the Russian Ambassador in Kinshasa.
